ACT and Mountain Access Brigade (MAB) are MERGING!

  • What does that mean?

Abortion Care Tennessee (ACT) and Mountain Access Brigade (MAB) are joining forces! We’ve been working together closely for a while now, and this merger is the next step in pooling our resources to better support Tennesseans needing out-of-state abortion care.

Starting August 25, 2025, the combined organization will kick off, and we’re making some strategic moves in the meantime. To focus on growing and strengthening our impact, we’ll be shifting away from some of our current funding methods. This will help us streamline operations and boost our ability to fund and support even more patients in the future.

This merger represents a huge milestone and a fresh start for us. By combining forces, we aim to double our impact and provide more funding, support, and advocacy to those who need it most. We’re excited about what’s ahead and grateful for your continued support as we make these important changes!

  • Who is MAB?

We are an all-volunteer group of abortion doulas based in Tennessee who are passionate about helping others receive care. A doula is a non-medical professional trained to provide support for people during a major medical experience, including assisting them through miscarriage or abortion.

Originally founded in 2016 as the Knoxville Abortion Doula Collective, we transformed in 2020 into Mountain Access Brigade to better serve the increasing need for financial support across the state. We use our secure support line to help clients navigate decision-making, appointment logistics, and other difficulties.

Note: While our support line is volunteer-staffed, we do not have the capacity to coordinate additional volunteers at this time. We will provide updates on Instagram when we have volunteer needs. • What does MAB do?

    We fund abortions for Tennesseans.

Abortion laws have made it increasingly difficult for Tennesseans who do not wish to be pregnant and need to travel to another state for abortion care. This disproportionally affects people with lower incomes. We can help by funding the abortion procedure and providing support with confidentiality and no judgment.

  • How does MAB's funding work?

    Step 1

Make an appointment with the clinic where you plan to have the procedure.

Need help locating a clinic? Start here.

    Step 2

Then call or text us and we'll get back to you within 48 hours to discuss funding eligibility.

    Step 3

We will send the funds directly to the clinic where you’ll be receiving care.

  • Do you live in TN and need help funding an abortion?

Our support line is encrypted and completely confidential. We’re here to give you non-judgmental support and assistance however we can.

It is against the law in Tennessee for any adult to intentionally provide assistance to a minor in obtaining an abortion, even if the abortion can be legally performed in another state, without the prior written and notarized consent of that minor’s parent or legal guardian.
